8th Day Of Hunger Strike In Kalimpong, One Critical

For the demand of a separate state of Gorkhaland, today marks the eighth day of hunger strike in Kalimpong.

District Magistrate Dr. Biswanath and SDO Nirmalaya Gharami accompanied by a medical team visited the hunger strike demonstrators today.

Sources state that the DM requested the demonstrators to get admitted in the hospital as their health has been turning worse. One of the demonstrators, Ajit Roka, is reported to be in a critical condition.

When the DM turned the request to the demonstrator’s family members, they said that the hunger strike will only be withdrawn when Gorkhaland achieves statehood.

It has been found that the administration has been sending medical teams to the hunger strike demonstrators regularly. District Magistrate Dr. Biswanath stated that he visited the demonstrators today as the medical team had suggested that they all need medical aid.

“We spoke to the demonstrators as well as their family members. We have posted a medical team and an ambulance at the site incase they agree for the medical treatment,” said Dr. Biswanath
